The construction corresponds with the requirements of the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) and is based on the successful VARIOGUARD system which has been implemented worldwide and has been especially adapted to the special construction conditions. BRIDGEGUARD has a system width of 0.71 m and a system height of 1.25 m. The construction is fixed to the ground by skidding plates, so that it cannot fall over and transfers only a small amount of energy to the construction. The skidding plates also control the deflection of the system, so that an erranting vehicles is gradually slowed down on a way of maximum 0.71 m.
BRIDGEGUARD passed the Initial Type Tests TB 11 and TB 81 acc. to EN 1317-2 with excellent results and fulfills the highest containment level H4b.
